Speranza Theatre Company presents: KIDS ON STAGE Workshop in collaboration with The Theatre Company- Hoboken & Jersey City, NJ

Check out The Hudson Pulse for information on Speranza Theatre Company's education program...Kids create the show

Kids on Stage Workshop-TTC's Studio C413, Monroe Center for the Arts- Hoboken & Jersey City, NJ

A 6-week course designed for children in grades 4-6. Kids on Stage serves as a collaborative environment where children are encouraged to write and star in productions of their own work. The teachers and students work in a group setting, allowing children to experience team work and collaboration, all while exploring their own creativity. Once the plays are written, we go into rehearsal, incorporate technical elements (lights, sound, costumes) and put up the finished play for an audience.

Saturday mornings from 9am-11am. From April 14, 2012 until May 19, 2012

Location: TTC's Studio C413, Monroe Center for the Arts, Hoboken, NJ Online registration: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/240805 Questions? info@thetheatercompany.org

Speranza means hope in Italian

Speranza means hope in Italian. On a crisp Fall evening in 2008, Speanza co-founders Rachel, Francesca & Heather decided it was time for a strong word to represent their budding NYC theatre company. Sitting in a restaurant on 8th Avenue, Rachel and Heather began to ask Francesca, the resident official on everything Italian, to translate several words. Passion, drama, fearless, collaborative, play, thought-provoking; finally asking for the translation of hope...Speranza. It was unanimous. Speranza summed up the mission and gave the company purpose, plus it sounded amazing when Francesca pronounced it with her Italian accent! So yes, the name is Speranza, not Esperanza (that's Spanish) that was selected over a bottle of Italian wine on 8th Avenue.

Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.
Helen Keller

Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.
Albert Einstein

Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul - and sings the tunes without the words - and never stops at all.
Emily Dickinson

All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.
Winston Churchill

You may not always have a comfortable life and you will not always be able to solve all of the world's problems at once but don't ever underestimate the importance you can have because history has shown us that courage can be contagious and hope can take on a life of its own.
Michelle Obama

Speranza's New Website, and New Director of Social Media!

Happy Halloween to all!  We have a bunch of things on the horizon, and right now the pieces for them are moving into place.

First, we'd like to welcome  Kathleen Choe, our New Director of Social Media!  We're so excited to have her on board.  In our first meeting with last week, we learned all about the use of social media and theatre (and what the heck "trending" is).  You can now follow us on Twitter @Speranzatheatre, as well as join our Facebook group, Speranza Theatre Company.  We've got lots of exciting things on the horizon, and by following us you'll be able to get our latest news, as well as some other tidbits we think you'll enjoy.

Also, our website revamped and running!  Same place--www.SperanzaTheatreCompany.com--but with a fresh new look.  Like we said, lots of things coming up, so check back often for updates.  Kathleen's bio has not been added as of yet, but in the meantime, you can find more information about her at www.Kathleen-Choe.com.

It's turning out to be an exciting time for Speranza as we move towards the end of 2011.  Wishing you all a happy and safe Halloween!
